A Note on the Morphology O F the Seminiferous Tubules of Birds

چکیده
In the course of a study of the renal tubules of birds, by means of the maceration method devised by Huber,l in which full grown roosters (Gallus domestica) were used as material, the injection of the 75 per cent solution of hydrochloric acid was through the aorta central to the branches supplying the kidneys and sex glands. In a number of the cases the testes were found to be well injected and were removed and placed in 75 per cent hydrochloric acid with a view of obtaining thorough maceration preparatory to teasing. Following the method as described, the macerated pieces were washed thoroughly in distilled water, stained in hemalum, softened and cleared in 0.25 per cent to 0.5 per cent ammonia water, in which they were teased. Even during the preliminary teasing of the larger pieces it was noted that the testis of the rooster was not separable into lobular masse8, as is the case in mammalian testes, so that it was found impossible to isolate structural units with which the final teasing could be carried out. Huber and Curtis2 found that in the mammalian testis the seminiferous tubules presented no blind ends, diverticuli or nodular enlargements but were arranged in the form of an arch or a variable number of linked arches, all of the ends terminating

Background: Melatonin, the pineal gland hormone as a direct or indirect antioxidant and free radical scavenger, is involved in the process of both aging and age-related diseases. This study investigates the effects of melatonin on the histology of testicular seminiferous tubules in aged mice. Materials and Methods: Twenty male, white mice, aged 16 months, that weighed 20-23 gr were equally divi...

Background This study aimed to investigate whether Artificial Seminiferous Tubules (AST) coated with testicular extra cellular matrix (ECM) support maturation of spermatogenic cells from immature testes. MaterialsAndMethods Medical grade tubes coated with testicular ECM were used. Testes from immature mice were loaded in the concentration of 10000- 20000/ml. Tubes were then immersed in germ cel...

Background Male fertility and reproduction can affect by stress. The means by which stress influences reproduction is not clearly understood. The aim of the present study was to examine, using stereological methods, the role of glucocorticoids during chronic restraint stress on spermatogenesis. MaterialsAndMethods Twenty four male adult Sprague- Dawley rats were allocated to four equal groups; ...

Background: Busulfan is an alkylating agent, which inhibits cell dividing by sticking to one of the DNA strands. The aim of the present study was establishment and stereological evaluation of testes of azoospermic animal model using busulfan in albino hamster. Materials and Methods: Male adult albino hamsters were randomly assigned into 3 groups. The first group was injected one dose of busulfa...
متن کاملP-108: Reproductive Toxic Effect of Carbon Tetrachloride and Therapeutic Effect of Cornus Mas Fruit Extract on Morphology and Histology of Testis in Rats
Background: Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), an industrial solvent, is a well-established hepatotoxin. Studies demonstrated that liver is not the only target organ of CCl4 since it causes free radical generation in other tissues such as testis. It has also been reported that exposure to CCl4 induces acute and chronic reproductive toxicity. Diverse medicinal plants have been screened and assessed fo...
